2018 F-150 XL 2.7l turbo, 4x4, supercab, 6.5' bed, 101A power package (power windows, remote entry, power mirrors) 3.73 gears, Payload package, trailer tow package with “pro trailer backup assist” no other options (bench seat, no carpet, no CD, no gegaws or doodads). Lightning blue. Our local dealer is trading with another dealer down south in the state. Might be here tomorrow...
it’s a little more expensive, but the payload package and trailer tow package mean it’ll handle a bit more weight and is all pre-wired for our trailer brake controller. I kinda wish it didn’t have the trailer backup assist, as it’s just a thing to go wrong, and we can back a trailer just fine, but apparently when you spec one with the payload package and the trailer tow package you get the backup assist weather you want it or not :P We could have made it $1000 cheaper by searching for one without the power package, but power mirrors and windows are nice.
We sold the Tacoma to a local used car dealer today, he offered us a reasonable cash deal and we know, based on condition, that it just would have been a PITA to get more out of it as trade-in value...

Welcome to the 2.7 club. You’ll like it here.
On a side note, that’s straight up BlueMazda2 bait you posted.

That’s a nice color. I’m not a truck guy so I’ve never been able to wrap my mind around the million names Crewcab, KingCab, SuperCab, DoubleCab, Supercrewm QuadCab, ExtendedCab etc. that the various manufacturers use.

it is a little nutso. every manufacturer has their own term for each cab size, and then you get into the Crew vs SuperCrew where they’re both four door, five passenger trucks but one has more rear seat leg room... insanity. It is a nice color, isn’t it?

Hmmm. Right now I’m debating whether to bu an ‘02 Explorer for $1500. No rust but does have a few minor issues. I can’t fathom spending $30k plus on a truck. But, I’d love a new truck/car for the family. But, can’t afford it at the moment.

Ford really knocked that one out of the park

Don’t forget about MegaCab!

Modern used trucks are so damn expensive, might as well buy a new one :-P Also, Vermont is an inspection state, so our used pickups are even more expensive. I’m lucky to be able to afford all the stuff... I recognize it. I try not to take it for granted.

Mine’s a few years old now, it’s the previous blue, blue flame.

My dad really wanted one of these, but price... Also, it wouldn’t fit in the garage.

Good deal, nice colour- friends of ours are shopping for a real supercab to pull a new 29ft trailer- sadly out of my Tacoma’s expertise..
What was up with your Taco? Resale isn’t usually an issue..

I like that you can spec a big gas tank, a locking rear diff and a high output alternator with these.

Not hating on you, at all. My wife’s 2000 Explorer blew the head gasket a few weeks ago, which I, of course, had to post. A co-worker just so happens to have a 2002 Explorer he’d like to sell, so I’m in the middle of negotiating a fair price. It’s originally from Mississippi, so for a N.W. Ohio truck, it is essentially rust free, which is a BIG plus. It needs a replacement HVAC blend door actuator, and one or two other minor things, as far as I can tell, but for about $1,500, I really can’t complain. It’ll make for a decent family hauler for at least a few years, I hope.

The 2.7 club is a good place go be. Welcome. That blue is magnificent, and it is the color I would’ve ordered a truck in.
The first time you tow a trailer you’ll be glad you got the 3.73 gears. The short gears and the 2.7 make for a deeply impressive towing experience.

Excuse me, sir. But that is neither blue nor a Mazda

So what did you get for the Taco? Only 29 grand?

Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just fix the HG on the Explorer you already have/know?

Rust and unlocateable evap leak.

Rust, high mileage, an untraceable evap leak, a collision involving a deer and a worn rear differential all conspired to push it down to $2400.

yep, v6 auto, extra cab.

Indeed. I wasn’t planning at all on getting a new truck last year, but used prices on newer stuff just seemed ridiculous to me. When I realized that there are 10K plus in rebates on new trucks (and I took an hard look at what I actually needed in a truck) the equation worked out to a new F-150.

Yes, it would be cheaper, by a few hundred dollars, maybe. Then I’d still have a 18 year old truck with over 160K on it, and an extremely rusty frame. If the ‘00 truck was in great shape, I’d consider it, but it’s not, so I’m not.

Eh, buying something else just gets you a whole mess of someone else’s problems + the cost of buying another vehicle.
